A shopkeeper sells rice at Rs 12 per kg but uses a faulty 900g weight as 1kg. What is his actual profit percentage?
Answer: 11.1%
He receives Rs 12 for 900g whose cost is Rs 10.8. Profit = Rs 1.2. Profit% = 1.2/10.8 × 100 = 11.1%.
If the cost price of 12 items equals the selling price of 9 items, what is the profit percentage?
Answer: 33.3%
12 CP = 9 SP → SP/CP = 12/9 = 4/3. Profit% = (1/3) × 100 = 33.3%.
A trader sells goods at cost price but uses a 800g weight instead of 1kg. Find his profit percentage.
Answer: 25%
He gives 800g but charges for 1000g. Profit% = 200/800 × 100 = 25%.
A man bought oranges at 3 for Rs 5 and sold at 5 for Rs 12. Profit or loss percentage?

CP per item = Rs 8. SP per item = Rs 12.5. Profit per item = Rs 4.5. Profit% = 4.5/8 × 100 = 56.25%.
An item is sold for Rs 4500 at a loss of 10%. What was the cost price?
Answer: Rs 5000
SP = CP × 0.9 = 4500 → CP = 4500/0.9 = Rs 5000.
