To recover from a skid, what should you do?
If you start to skid, stay calm, ease your foot off the gas, let your vehicle slow down gradually, and carefully steer in the direction in which you want your vehicle to go. Avoid braking, especially if your car is not equipped with an antilock braking system (ABS). The vehicle may possibly overshoot and start to skid in the opposite direction. If so, steer to counteract this as well. This procedure, known as “steering into the skid,” will bring the rear end of your vehicle into line with the front. Once the vehicle is back under your control, straighten the wheels.
Which of the following statements about turnabouts is FALSE?
Turnabouts are maneuvers in which you turn your vehicle around to drive in the opposite direction. You may not perform a turnabout within 200 feet of any intersection. No U-Turn signs prohibit U-turns, but there are other types of turnabouts that may not be prohibited there.
You have parked facing downhill on the side of the road. There is no curb. Which way should you point your front wheels?
If you park on a hill without a curb, point your front wheels toward the edge of the road. If your brakes fail, your car will roll toward the edge of the road, not into traffic. Make sure you still set your parking brake and leave your car in the correct gear. For an automatic transmission, shift into Park. For a manual transmission, shift into Reverse when facing downhill or first gear for maximum forward torque when facing uphill.

If an emergency vehicle is approaching you with a siren and flashing lights on, you are required to pull over to the right edge of the road and remain stopped until the emergency vehicle has passed. However, if you're in the middle of an intersection when the emergency vehicle approaches, proceed through the intersection and then pull over immediately. [R. I. G. L. § 31-17-6]
If an oncoming vehicle has its high beams on, you should look __________ until the vehicle has passed.
If an oncoming vehicle has its high-beam headlights on, don't stare at the lights. Look toward the right edge of the roadway to prevent being temporarily blinded. Steer by the right edge or the fog line (which is the white line on the right side of most roadways) until the vehicle has passed and your vision has returned to normal.
