Wonderlic Basic Skills Test

Wonderlic Basic Skills Test (WBST) is a cognitive ability test that focuses on the linguistic and analytical abilities of an individual. Companies mainly use this test to assess their applicants ‘ vocabulary, written communication skills, and basic mathematical ability and to determine their performance, as part of their evaluation.

The WBST includes questions concerning algebra and verbal reasoning at the basic high school level. Although the test is timed, the restriction is fair, and most people can read all questions before the timer ends.

The WBST allows institutions to determine whether candidates have the requisite skills that can either be successful in the workplace or are engaging in intensive learning in the pursuit of a certain career path. It is usually given to prospective employees in recruiting or to students as part of the college application and admission process.

❓ What you need to know

The WBST takes 40 minutes and contains 90 questions in two different sections. During the first half, you’ll need to answer 50 multiple choice questions about reading and writing, and in the second half, 40 questions about basic math and numerical reasoning.

Each portion takes 20 minutes, and you are given four choices for each question. In addition, the entire examination can be finished online, whether at the examination center or in your own home.
