Question: An analyst is comparing two programs using a ratio. Program A served 340 clients with a $170,000 budget; Program B served 280 clients with a $126,000 budget. Which has a lower cost per client?

Program A at $500 is the right figure for A but is the higher cost, so it does not answer the question. Both equal at $475 is wrong because it is simply the midpoint of the two real results and matches neither program. Program A at $450 pairs the correct figure with the wrong program.

The rule to remember: for any cost-per-unit question, divide total cost by units for each option, then compare. Check that the program named in your answer matches the number you calculated.

Start with the official material. Read the job posting for the classification you want, then check the DAS website to see which kind of test it uses and what it covers. That tells you where to spend your time, since the exam varies by job.
