Is Emergency Management worth it for salary increase? Real numbers inside

I've been tracking job listings for the past 3 months to see if Emergency Management actually translates to higher pay. Here's what I found.

Before the cert: Most listings in my area were offering $X-Y range without requiring it (just "preferred").

After talking to people who have it: A few people in LinkedIn conversations said they saw 8-15% bumps when switching jobs with the cert vs. without. One person mentioned their company paid for renewal as a retention benefit.

My conclusion: The cert matters more for job switching than for getting a raise at your current employer. If you're planning to move in the next 1-2 years, it's probably worth it.

What's your experience? Did it actually move your salary?

Can confirm — I failed my first attempt for similar reasons. The second time I was much more systematic about time management and it made a real difference.

Appreciate you sharing the failure story. Most threads are just people celebrating passes and it makes you feel like everyone else has it figured out. The struggle is real for a lot of us.

I just finished my Emergency Management last month and my experience was almost identical. The exam day tips section especially — I showed up without two forms of ID the first time and nearly couldn't sit for it.

+1 to everything here. I had the exact same experience with the scenario questions — that tip about asking "what would an experienced professional do" is genuinely useful.
