If your bus leans toward the outside on a banked curve, you are driving too fast.
While driving your bus, you should avoid chatting with passengers (or engaging in any other distracting activities).

As the bus driver, you are expected to announce the location, next departure time and bus number.

If the school bus is so equipped, the school bus driver should activate the bus' alternating flashing amber warning lights in accordance with state law or at least 200 ft. before the school bus stop.
If you need to evacuate your vehicle, a safe place will typically be at least 100 ft. off the road, in the direction of the oncoming traffic.
When you back up your vehicle, you should assign someone as a lookout, who could warn you of obstacles, approaching persons and other vehicles.
The outside left and right side flat mirrors should be adjusted so that you can see 200 ft. or 4 bus lengths behind the bus, along the sides of the bus and the rear tires touching the ground.
A bus driver should be able to see 200 ft. behind a school bus when the outside left side flat mirrors are adjusted properly.
ABS stands for antilock braking system.
After you have finished your route you should conduct a post-trip inspection.
Because students may drop an object near the bus during loading and unloading, you should watch carefully as the enter and exit the bus.
If the bus is on fire, you should lead students upwind of the bus.

Students should evacuate the bus when the bus is on fire, the bus is stalled on a railroad-highway crossing, and/or if there is an imminent danger of collision.

Advance warning signs at passive railroad-highway crossings are usually yellow.
Make sure the front area of enclosed trailers does not have cracks, bulges or holes.
As you are checking your hydraulic brakes, you should pump the brake pedal three times and then hold it for five seconds. The brake pedal should not depress during the five seconds.
You should carry fire extinguishers, warning devices for parked vehicles and spare electrical fuses (if the vehicle uses them).
There are four versions of the Class A pre-trip inspection test. You will only need to perform one of them.
If your fifth wheel plate is not well lubricated, this could cause steering problems.
